Placing textured background behind a floral image?

A gentlemen on the main gallery page posted a nice image of a black textured background behind a bouquet of flowers and told us he processed it in pe12. But unfortunately he would not answer the how? I would like to know how you would process this black textured background behind a floral bouquet in pe11. Maybe you could give me a link to this process on u tube etc. I think the answer would be a good educational experience for the beginner pe11 user. Thanks for your help!

Here is one video. You need to be in expert mode, and use layers:

Using layers opens up a whole new world! I was a bit frustrated with the learning curve initially - looking back it wasn't all that bad :) Now I do all my processing (raw files) with the use of layers.

There are different ways to do this, but in PS or Elements, go to Bridge or 'Browse in Bridge,' find the .jpg file you want to use as an overlay and drag it onto your flower image on the work space. Cover your image entirely, click the check mark. Go to Layers and click on Rasterize>>Layer.

Drop the opacity slider of your texture layer, so that you can see your flowers beneath, then use a soft black brush to mask off/paint over the flowers, making corrections with the white brush. Raise the opacity back to 100 percent (or whatever looks good) and merge or flatten your layers.

Pretty easy to do.

linda and treepusher thanks for your tips and links on this topic. Attached find an image of a brown texture behind an artificial arrangement of sunflowers etc. that I shot. Basically I used the technique that treepusher described. Here is a link to a you tube video by nichole young on the topic which outlines three procedures to accomplish it. very nicely done and short. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0JqGKUsM_w I thought my result was pretty good! Anyway thanks all for your help!!
