Yes you have. You just realized how much you still have to learn. Next assignment: go out shooting with exposure set to aperture priority and a fixed focal length lens. That will force you to move your feet to compose, look at different angles and think about the effect your lens opening will have on the final shot. I do this exercise all the time. It keeps my basic skills sharp.
artistic look to an action shot. The color and tone is beyond the usual action shot.
