Thoughts on New Hampshire

Tonight Donald T***p w*n the New Hampshire Republican primary. He got 34% to John Kasich's 16% and Ted Cruz's 12%.

On first glance that would seem to be an impressive win. But let's look at it another way. Donald Trump received 34% of the Republican v**e. That means that two thirds of Republican v**ers rejected him. Not a very encouraging thought when thinking about the general e******n, in my opinion.

Feeling the Bern yet Tschmath? I think there is also a revolution going on in the democrat party, how much has our country changed in the last 15 years.... I am glad to see that Hillary is once again getting her up and comings, however I certainly don't want to see Bernie as our next president.

BTW what you said about Trump is true, but I am not so sure that the republican side will be straightened out anytime soon. You may very well see Trump as the republican nominee. Christie is toast, unfortunately I think that Fiorina is as well.

I've been a Berniac some time. So much of what he stands for resonates with me, and I agree with him that we need a political revolution in this country. I'm convinced he can win in the general against any of the Republican candidates, but I worry that he won't be able to get the majorities in Congress that he'll need to be successful.

Fiorina was always toast!

There is something happening in the Democratic Party. MSNBC pointed out (from memory here) eight per cent More democrats classified themselves as 'very liberal' this year, compared to the last e******n year. In New Hampshire, the move was even larger. Judging from these to examples, Dems are getting more liberal.

However, this issue is a matter of degree.

What is happening to repubs is a difference in kind. Trump has enough loyal v**ers behind him to guarantee repubs lose the e******n.

Cruz would be even worse.

Question is, what does the Republican Party do after a p**********l loss, and how long will it take to get their act together again after another eight years in the wilderness?

The House is a different matter, due to gerrymandering.

Republicans had 8 years to, as you say, get their act together. What makes you think anything will change? The did a giant post mortem after 2012, and they are still, as Bobby Jindal called them, the party of stupid.

The problem for Democrats is that they can't seem to turn their p**********l e******n dominance into down ticket success. They've lost both houses of Congress and too many state legislatures and governorships to count. They prove time and time again, to their own detriment, that off-year e******ns are extremely important, especially those occurring after a census, when congressional districts are redrawn.

Did they personally tell you they rejected him? Could it not possibly be that they preferred another candidate over him? If that other candidate drops out, do you believe they'll v**e for Hillary, et al? BTW: there is no Santa Claus.
