Camera Bag Hip Pack for hiking advice please

I have a Canon 60D with 3 filters and a flash that I want to carry while hiking on rocky, step trails, in Virginia (hot, humid.) I would like a hip pack to keep my back cool and my hands free to catch myself when crossing slippery streams. Being able to carry a water bottle and a tripod would be a bonus.
There are so many to chose from (and I hate making decisions). Are there any you love or hate?

I would suggest a lumbar pack, I use one frequently, most have at least one water bottle holder, lots of sizes available and many price ranges, I've seen them starting about $10.00 in Wmart on up in various sporting goods stores, I fit my T1is in a neoprene case and a lens in a very small one and can carry another lens in one of the water bottle holders if needed. Bob.

I never heard of a lumbar pack but that is probably a better name for what I am looking for. Something I can wear behind me but can have in front that gives me quick access to my camera (wild horses don't give you much time to grab your camera!) Thank you very much.

Glad I could help, Bob.

That sounds like a great idea. I am planning on doing some hiking in Shenandoah Park next week and was planning on bringing the backpack, but I will have to look into this. It sounds like your hiking will be more adventurous than mine, though....not sure I will be forging any streams (unless I am running from a bear). :-)

I personally like the LowePro series of sling bags. They fit over your shoulder and can swing around to grab your gear. The adjustable interior allows you to adjust the space to fit your needs. The AW series, I own two, has space for a tripod, add on water bottles, other gear attachment and a built in rain shield with an interior mounted micrfiber lens cloth. They are a little pricey but they will give you great service and are very comfortable. Try Amazon or any of the major retailers. Good Luck!!.

The cheapest way is to ask your wife/girlfriend if she has a sling bag that she doesn't use anymore. I know my wife has a number of black nylon bags that I may use in the future.

I have a Lowpro 350 it carries three lens, filters, laptop and more. You can get it on line from Walmart cheap.

FYI: My daughter has a sling bag that she loves. I am lopsided enough as it is.

I'm the wife so alas, there are no bags to confiscate (I just have to settle for closet space.)

Thank you for everyone's help.
