When my friends first raved about Cohen I was shocked. The guy doesn't sing -- he croaks! Then I listened a bit more, bought a CD, and let him grow on me. His lyrics are amazing, with so much depth and meaning that changes with your mood of the moment. I love the metaphorical images he conjures up. His voice is unique, but still pleasant enough to listen to. And when other artists take his music to new heights it is magical. He is one of my favorite artists today.
