Easy on location wine bottle shot

I recently finished shooting a new wine cellar for a client and wanted to do a detail shot of his personal wine label. I am sharing what I did to show how inexpensive items can be used to produce the desired result.

Set up with a 70mm macro lens on a 5D MKIII on a tripod (of course) 2 white foam core panels from Michaels and 3 LED lights. 2 are 190 leds with adjustable brightness and color, the 3rd was a small handheld from Harbor Freight with a 1/2 CTO gel. Any light sources like the clamp on incandescent utility lights could be used.

Propped foam core boards camera left and right. One adjustable LED was propped up on a box facing into the foam core camera left. Angles and brightness were adjusted for the wanted reflections. Light for the camera right reflector was placed behind the bottle for right side reflections.
Small gelled light was handheld to pop the books and decanter in background.

First shot shows the result of that. Overhead spots were on to illuminate the table top.

Second shot shows the right side LED light handheld camera right to illuminate the labels. You can see the rectangular reflection of the light in the bottles. Also by removing and reusing the light for the labels, I get an evenly lit tabletop without the blown highlight of the first shot.

Final shot show combing the 2 with masking and removing the light reflections/cleaning up of the bottle surfaces.

All in all, about 20 minutes to set up and compose, 5 minutes to test and shoot, and maybe 45 minutes in post.

Thank you for posting this in the 'wrong' section. If you had not put it in the general section I would not have seen it. I expect it will soon be shuffled to the photo gallery, but I for one find it interesting and relevant. Appreciated!

Yeah, I was back and forth on where to post, but decided this section would be more relevant as it could be construed as instructional/inspirational or at least informative.

There are so many great photographers here, this may be simplistic, but I want to share and learn from others. Which is why we are this forum.
