What has anyone found for an economical large format (11x17) printer?

For 13x19 I recommend the EPSON Stylus Photo R3000. I've never seen such good results from a printer as I see with this one. Inks are expensive but there are work-arounds (e.g. Precision Colors in Toronto). a 13x19 printer can also print 11x17.

I have an HP Office jet 7612 which I am very happy with, although I have not printed any 11 x 17 prints yet. I have used it for Autocad and it is very accurate.

In our area, there are about half a dozen brand new, in the box Canon pixma pro 9000 II and Pro 100 available from $90 to $150. They come with full ink cartridges. These printers became available because of a bundle with camera, rebate and many folks had no use for the huge printer. I love mine. I would strongly recommend you check out Craig list in your area.

I own and recommend the Cannon PIXMA Pro-100, capable of 13x19-inch color prints. Normally, you can purchase a new one for $150 or even less, because Canon hopes to make their profit from selling to you, over-priced ink.

I successfully use ink cartridges from LD Products at substantial savings: http://www.ldproducts.com/Canon/Ink-Cartridge/PIXMA/PRO-100/8488-Printer.html
