Great truck! Infinite possibilities!! this is one that would benefit from a harsher contrasty approach to bring out the details. I wonder how it would work to turn a little to the right, eliminating some of the stuff along the left border and showing a bit more truck. If it were mine, I'd be throwing some HDR type processing at it, or some Topaz detail filter, on a layer with reduced opacity so I could fiddle with the layer till I got it just crunchy enough without being overdone.

The shot I like very much. It appears more pp is needed to bring this alive.

I tried a different approach in PP, lowering the contrast being one, in trying to find that "unique" style we all crave. My PP is limited to 1 minute as I don't want to spend a whole lot of time in LR/PS. I haver the capability to do HDR but have chosen not to................yet. Topaz is a non-starter, only because I'm a slow learner

As for including the right side of the vehicle. The shop owner had a large sandwich style sign parked next to it. I inquired if it was possible to move same, which he eventually did............to the left side of the truck............the winds were not favorable that day.

Here's what would have been my normal PP.

Quite confused by your statements. I have a version that took maybe 5 minutes in Ps and 1 minute in Lr if you are interested. If you are looking for your unique style I would think spending time in pp would be how you might get there.

LOL...................when my girls were growing up we use to make them turn off the TV, computer, etc and go outside to play. FF 20 some years, they caught me on the computer trying to PE images and gave me hell. Since then, I've dedicated 1 minute, no more, to editing.
In other words, spend more time behind the camera than in front of the computer. I usually take 100+ shots an outing and if I took 5 min per that adds up. I know I can batch process but I have a tendency still wanting to tweak each image.

No offense taken or given, just passing on a mindset.

All has been said about your picture my man and apart from that at this moment in time I cannot see how you can be helped. If you do not wish to learn a little PP unless you hit hit the lucky button your images are going to be just so so like this this one rather than a quite astonishing shot that I reckon it could be.
Your choice but Mr Nikon and Mr Canon make cameras to take Raw files for a reason. They expect you use PP.
Your choice and whatever pleases you but I can promise you this would make a great picture.

All discussion of post processing aside, I like the truck and the angle of the shot. However, the background is so very busy that the truck actually gets lost in all the background details. Since you chopped off the wheel anyway, what about cropping out all that stuff to the left of the truck - right at the bed stake?

Ah my man billy.............I didn't say I won't PP just that I don't care to live in front of a computer...........That being said, if I come across an image that i get truly excited........well, all rules are meant to be broken.

:-D :D :D

ps I am aware that a raw file is all the information the camera can garner when the shutter is pressed and it's up to the photographer to polish and edit the image to their taste. In fact, an unedited raw file is inherently flat.

It's like a beautiful woman.......some make up will enhance her beauty...........too much and it makes her look, well like a painted lady.....

I thought about that..............I went to a square AR but it loses context. I felt it doesn't give the viewer the proper information. If you wish, give it a go.

The image you posted here is worth the effort I can assure you my friend. Leave the stuff in the background whatever you do, its part of what makes the image.
