Is there a link here for gear?

My real question is this: I need to make sure my gear stays safe while kayaking in water where I may roll. So the question is not so much as about diving as either a waterproof digital recommendation or a housing for my D7100.

i don't go kayaking but i have a center console power boat. I've have a few waves come over the bow. my wife bought me a "dry bag" from field and stream. i love it. I've never had a breach, fold it over a few times and snap it. simple and very effective. i was skeptical at first but it works. i also own a dry box (West Marine). i have had a breach w/ that. its got an o-ring thats not 100%. lost a cell phone. i still use the dry box but put electronics in large freezer bags to be sure. on humid days when I'm not moving i always open both the box and bag to prevent condensation. good luck. I'm sure some kayakers here will give you some great tips too. gary

Kayaking is a sport when even the most planned events get wet easily. Insert unintended roll here. I have to say the best thing I have found is the EWA marine camera bags. They allow near full functionality of the camera lens combo without any fear of submersion. The only drawback is that yo will be limited to about an 85mm lens. They are costly but I have used them to depths of 130 feet and routinely on my kayak. Never a problem. Cost can be expensive at around $300 but other makers make imitation products that appear to be ok for much less (Dicapac, Aquapak etc) I actually found mine on Craigslist for $100 and I've never been happier. It has been used Kayaking, Diving, Emergency Scenes and Vacations in damp areas. Thats my 2 cents. Good luck on the quest. The best part is that the bag can be used on a variety of SLR combinations without having to replace it when you buy new bodies/lens etc.

Thanks. I'll look at this. I may just have to find a P&S that would be less painful to loss due to a dunk.

If you are still looking (unlikely since this was 7 years ago) get an OLY TG-5
waterproof out of the box.
