After the storm

Last week we had over two feet of snow. With the warm an sunny temperature this week much has melted. I originally went looking for deer to photgraph. But too many people out and about for the deer to show. I had to change directions as I walked around I found this statute had emerged from the snow.
Without the knowing the back story your thoughts on the subject.

I feel the the white balance to be a bit on the warm side. While not positive I think I can see some shadow from your fill flash. As far as subject goes it’s ok, maybe just a bit lower perspective.
I can’t make up my mind whether I like the tree or not NJ.

Frank you are correct I did need a flash to fill some of the shadows. I did want it a bit on the warm side. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment

I like the idea of capturing this statue embedded in the snow. He looks like he's leaning a bit towards the right side of the screen. Frank has already addressed some issues that I won't repeat but I do agree. If you get another chance, you might want to move around to different angles and shoot both closer in and further away. It might make an interesting black and white candidate as well..

Thanks Minn for looking an commenting. The statue will be there however the snow will not, or at least the amount. The statue emerging from the snow is what caught my eye.

I like it. well seen. Looks like a figure emerging from the snow with that melt hole the statue is in. Works for me.

Love the idea of this strange figure emerging or sinking into the snow. Eagle eye Frank has outlined the technical issues and strangely prefer this in color.
I posted a tutorial about sky replacement the technique would work to get rid of the flash shadow.

Thanks Billy for looking and commenting. I actually tried your tutorial on the picture you posted for the sample. I posted my results.
