I find the rainforest absolutely fascinating. Big national parks, all rain forest about half an hour inland from me so there is plenty of opportunity to meander. So I figured I better do plant just for once, particularly because the contrast of dense through-the-trees darkness and penetrating shafts of light are a really interesting challenge. These are three of the results. Any thoughts?

These three are exquisite Peter; your composition and use of filtered light make these really great captures. I love all of them!

The frilly lettuce-like look of #2 makes that one my favorite. I'm also drawn to backlit scenes and you've done beautifully with #1 and #2, very striking.

For me #3 isn't quite as successful because of the busy background.

Flipped horizontally number 1 works better for my brain.

The light coming through the trees in the upper center……I find a touch distracting.

The captured light in number 3 is amazing.

All well done photos Peter.

Peter, I will simply express my awe at your three lovely examples of the miraculous results of the mutational versatility of DNA !
Many thanks.

Nice photos--they remind me of when I was in the rainforest in Hawaii.

Really good, like the lighting, number three made the words "rib cage" pop up when I looked at it.

Thanks Dave, natural selection truely is an amazing process, though, if I am being pedantic, I might question the word 'miraculous.' But then again, considering the way variation arises out of what is fundamentally a simple but oh so beautiful mechanism, it certainly may seem to be miraculous.

Cheers

Big smile on my face. Rib Cage, thats exactly what I saw and what prompted me to take the shot.

Cheers

Interesting, I flipped the first and I have two reactions. Firstly I feel a resistance to the idea because I worked on it for so long with this particular orientation that a flip feels wrong. But the more I live wit the flip it feels, and this sounds dumb, more natural, it flows better. I think I will have to live with both versions for a while to make up my mind but you have got me thinking. many thanks for the feedback

Peter.

Thanks Linda, I also like backlit stuff but I am very much a novice in handling it well so this all part of a learning process for me. So I will be venturing back into the rainforest on a regular basis.

Many the banks for the feedback, I am glad you liked the pics.
