Notice from Adobe re Photoshop CS6

I just got an email from Adobe telling me that my monthly subscription price, currently $35, for use of Photoshop CS5 is coming down to $19.99 a month when Photoshop CS6 is released. Can't argue with that. Who knew prices would come down? The whole purpose in me renting the CS5 is because I automatically get upgraded to CS6 when it's available. Once my year's lease is up, I'll be able to make the decision as to whether or not CS6 is worth me actually buying.

This doesn't seem to pertain to the new "Cloud" system Adobe is purported to be putting into place right now for all of their software packages. The last I heard, CS6 will be about $60 a month and will only work when you're online and accessing their "member" system. Don't be fooled into thinking Adobe would lower the price on anything to benefit you. They're preparing you for the future shock.

The $19 is for CS6 only. It works out to $365 for the program based on 18 months between paid upgrades, $240 between yearly upgrades. You can buy an upgrade for $200. I'm going for the upgrade with disk copy.

My email says that I can continuing leasing Photoshop for $19.99 a month for CS6, down from $35 a month for CS5, and that if I want the Cloud system with it, the cost for it and CS6 is $29.99 a month.

In order to buy an upgrade, you have to have CS5 or CS4. I don't have it because I have been leasing CS5, knowing that the lease also gives me the latest and the greatest when it comes out.

They actually call it "subscription," but all it is, is a lease plan.

It's not always available, but right now it is.

You can also purchase the upgrade to CS6 if you are a registered owner of CS3. Cost $199.00. Shipping and tax comes to $218.00 for me. They were going to limit the upgrades to CS4 or 5, but Scott Kelby and all the NAPP members rebelled so they went back to the old plan.
