Has anyone constructed a kaleidoscope to mount on the camera lens and have gotten good results.

Try just standing one on a body with a pinhole lenscap, laying flat on a table and looking straight up at a light. Or on a tripod with the kaleidescope horizontal aimed at a light so you can vary it easier.

Thanks Mt Shooter ! If anyone would respond to my request I knew you would. Will try your recommendation. I like to experiment with different gadgets and media ,oil, water etc. Never used a Kaleidoscope and did not find any for purchase so I thought to construct one myself.

Let me know how it works, I have never done that but it just seemed like a logical approach as all Kaleidescopes I have seen have a pretty small viewing lens.

This site may help, and the photos may inspire. I collect kaleidoscopes so I look forward to seeing your pictures.

The world's largest kaleidoscope is just a few miles from me. Just lie on the floor and look up.

I downloaded the kaleidoscope plug-in and put it into the Plug-ins folder. How do I use it in PS5? I also dragged it into the PSE10 Plug-ins folder, and it works OK in that. Since I dragged it into the PS5 Plug-ins folder, it should work with that, too. Any suggestions?

I did this with Elements. Now I'd ike to get it to work with Photoshop5.

Nice work jerryc41. This kind of photo is what I am trying to do. I am in the process of building or I should say experimenting with making a Kaleidoscope of my own ...Dont know what will be the end result...I am hoping for a degree of success close to yours.

This is a nice new effect for me to play with, although I would like to get it to work in Photoshop. I'm sure someone here can tell me how.

I suggest, that if you make one, use first-surface mirrors (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_surface_mirror). I shot a Timex commercial in the late 1960s using two of them and a motion picture camera. The camera, though, was mounted above a lab stand, and no doubt not anything like that which you intend to do with it.

Jerry, you inspired me to try this. Funny, though, I took an actual kaleidoscope picture, processed it with the plug-in, and got a surprising result! This tool is really amazing...
