I did not know this man, but I would see him every time I would drive down Quincy Shore Drive in Wollaston, MA. I was on my way to Boston and there he was, swimming along side the chunks of ice. Well, I just had to stop and go out to see him. It must have been 20 degrees out and I got to chat with Jack. He was 80 years young. He would swim every day, rain, shine or snow! I did a series of photos of him and this is my favorite! 1987

I'm also 80 years young--but it will be a cold day in hell before I swim in ice. Does anyone try swimming in boiling water ?
