Satisfied with Greentoe

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about how it works. But I think I got a deal.

I wanted to upgrade from my original Sony A7 to the newer A7rii. The list price is $3,198. Amazon had a non-Prime available for $2,864.99.

I submitted a ridiculously low bid (can't remember exactly, but probably around $2,700.)

Even though I did this around 11:30 at night on Friday night, I got a response about half an hour later, saying I could get it for $2,850, or I could wait for additional offers. Since I had an extreme case of GAS, I agreed to the price, since I really don't think any sane retailer would go even lower. (But mainly, I didn't want to wait.)

I immediately got a confirmation from Greentoe, with the name of the retailer and an (800) toll-free number. The message confirmed that it was a US model including Sony warranty, and the price included tax and shipping.

I didn't hear anything on Monday, and started to get worried. On Tuesday, I called the retailer's toll-free number, and was assured that they ship within two days, and my order was in the queue, but since it was ordered over the weekend, it was backed up a bit. They said I would get it before Friday.

Yesterday (Tuesday) I got a confirmation that it was being prepared for shipment, including a tracking website. It indicated that the camera would arrive today, via Amazon shipping.

And indeed, around 10:45 this morning, the Big Brown Truck dropped it off, with signature required. Everything that was supposed to be in the box was there, and the camera box had a lot of bubble wrap around it. It was packed in an outside shipping box.

Bottom line: I got a good deal.

Greentoe asks: "Please do us a favor and keep the retailer’s name to yourself. We love it when you share the deals you get, but we need to keep our retailers private if we want to keep them happy and keep getting you amazing deals."

So I won't say who sold the camera, but it was a retailer whose name I didn't recognize, but is located in a major US city.

All of the instruction stuff and box markings indicate it is made for sale in the USA.

Congrats! I've purchased several major items from them and they are indeed legit. ALL brand new USA items shipped to my door tax and shipping included in your price. :D

All the naysayers just can't accept that some good things are for real. Their loss! lol

I took a chance on a Street Price deal through Canon Price Watch and I was worried, too. I ended up getting the camera (Canon 5DSr) for $700 less than retail. It arrived 4 days after ordering it, it was indeed a US model, sold by an Authorized Dealer, and when I called Canon to register it to confirm it was legit, I also got the 13-month drops and spills warranty valued at $300 for free. The stars aligned for me, that's for sure!

Most impressive, Laura. And with the lead directly from the manufacturer, you had reason to be confident it was legit.

Tried them once. Did not low ball. But did not get a bite. Haven't returned since.

Try, try again. It costs nothing to make an offer.

That is a good price for that camera, $350 less than most everywhere else. It is a great camera. I have had mine for less than a week, but it far better than anything else.

Be sure to do the firmware update to 3.0. Uncompressed RAW images are only 81 megabytes.
