During the panther game last night: Cold
50 subs, 75 total 15 culled due to clouds, satellites and airplanes: 100 flats; 100 bias; 30 dark.
Mount: iOptron ZEQ25 - Unguided; 60 second exposures;
OTA - Celestron 8 inch - SCT - 66 or 63 focal reducer.
Processed in PixInsight and PSCC
ROFL.. Cold.. It's winter.
Nice processing. What's with the fly aways to the right?
I guess if I want more of the nebula I have to blow out the trapezium. I have been taking great pains to try and not over expose that area of the nebula but I think its costing me detail in other areas. I would really like to see one of the unprocessed shots just to see what you are starting with.
Really nicely shot and processed Ed. ;) Jim

When I get home I will send you the fits file via dropbox. PM me your email address so I can do that! If any one else wants that just send me your email address. The files too large to upload here.
I also blew out the highlights. And I would have been better off blending 40, 60 Sec with 10, 15 Sec images

I shoot RAW so white balance is a non issue....I can change it after the fact in post. But, I generally just leave it on Auto as it has to be on something.
I sent the D800e to "Spencers" to be modified for astro photography and I also had them add their "heat reduction" system. Members from our Astronomy club steered me to them. I also have the Nikon D810a and plan to sell it. I have used it multiple times but prefer the D800e because of the heat reduction system. I don't need the D810a new settings as I am using Backyard EOS for Nikon and that can the same settings can be entered via that program.
The 810a is back in the box. A member of our Photography Guild wants it

Interesting I too sent my D600 to Spencer's for for the conversion but without the Heat Reduction.
I shot raw and I also use the Auto setting in Lightroom instead of the As Shot for my WB.
This is an amazing photo, I am also curious about the "wings".

The wings...I have no idea!

Me either but my imagination turns the left side of the picture into a birds beak, the middle is an over stuffed body and the wings become legs grabbing and carrying dinner.
It's a pretty shot.
;)
They are more than likely from a reflection in the imaging train, mine are almost always caused by the use of a focal reducer. It is next to impossible to get both the faint dust in the outer ring without blowing out the Trap, most use the blending of long and short exposures.
I love the color in your image, and the fact you left the lens flare in.

Nice photo. I am not familiar with the software program PSCC. A Google search was not helpful.

PSCC is Photoshop - the current version....stands for Photoshop Creative Cloud.
