Aw Frank you know how to tug at heart strings huh. All the gals are gonna say Oh what a cute little girl its wonderful or just georgeous etc etc.
Lucky for you Im here. Frank all it needs is opening in Photoshop Camera Raw File>Open As>Camera Raw and do following Contrast -5 Shadows +40 Blacks +24 Clarity +16.
You may wish to brush some slightly darker wave detail through from original.
Remember setting applied on my PC may be different to yours so figures quoted are a starting point.
Adjust and it will indeed be georgous

Billy's advice is almost as interesting as your pensive little subject, and aw, Billy's right she is the cutest model.

When you try it, will you share the result? I'd love to see.

I like it the way it is, it seems to have enough contrast. but I'm always interested in seeing what else can be done.

Its mainly lifting the shadows min. Its in fact a reduction in contrast very slightly

Differences are very subtle indeed and the result of pixel peeping buy worthwhile I think. Look at her tummy and hair are easiest places to see changes. Open both side by side and then its noticeable.

Well now at least I understand what you were after. thought you wanted her a bit softer and lighter.

Thanks minniev and St3v3M for stopping by.

I've looked at the various versions and suggestions to improve. I think this photo is a victim of harsh sunlight and deep shadows. Tough to get around that. Still, the composition is very nice, nothing is actually blown out and it captures a really lovely moment. So let it tug away at those heart strings.
