remnants from this weekend's blizzard - Silver Spring, Maryland
Good prospect David. The angle with the light shows the shapes of the cars very well under all that snow. I like the plow line leading down the road ... makes me wonder how many more buried cars there are.

Thanks, Sandra. There was a string of cars buried under the snow at this location. I took shots of one, two, and four cars. The shot with two cars (this one) seemed to be the most interesting. My thought was when you see the car in front, you're not quite sure what it is until your eye moves to the car in the rear with its wipers up.
The lighting was from the early morning (~ 7:00am). Any brighter, and the details in the snow get lost.

At least someone remembered to put their windshield wipers up! :)
Putting the wipers up seems to be a common thing to do around here, and it is an iconic picture of this blizzard (at least in my neighborhood).

Thanks, Irv. I hope no one is in there! :)

Love the lighting. I've never been able to take good photos of snow. Do have a question though. Why do you put the windshield wipers up? We never did when we lived in snow country.
If I had to guess, I would say that it makes it easier to scrape the windows if the wipers aren't frozen solid to it.

I'm not absolutely sure since I don't do it myself. Years ago, I once turned on the wipers and found the blades were frozen to the windshield, wouldn't move, and the motor burned out (or the gears stripped). It was a costly repair. Since then, I always lift the wipers off the windshield to make sure they are free. Keeping them up does the same thing, and makes it easier to scrape the ice off the windshield.
About the lighting...Photographing snow is difficult in bright, mid-day sun (too much contrast and not enough dynamic range in the sensor). This picture was taken in the early morning.

For a basically documentary image, you did incorporate the available leading lines of perspective to exceptionally good effect...draws the viewer deeply into the cold, wet scene! which, for a lot of Eastern folk, that may not be a good feeling!!!! /:>{
