We had some fire in ...
Both are nice. The top one is beautiful. IMHO - the bottom one would look even better if cropped below the dark cloud at the top. I don't think it adds much and a pano would look nice.

ohhhh here's a crop of that one
Tom, these are rather bland. I know what you saw is not what the camera picked up. This is very common with digital cameras; full frame or otherwise. These type of shots need lots of pp and the results are usually poor at best. The little clumps of trees in the last two aren't helping any. Personally, I think that most sunrise/sunset photos are poor at best (At least the ones posted here, on UHH). This is not to say that there are not some outstanding ones. Just the other day, some one posted one that was very good. I am speaking from experience here. 99.99% of mine are all pure crap. I have taken some that I have actually sold; and that is only because they had something in the foreground that made them outstanding. Same thing with photographing birds on a heavy overcast day. I won't even bother anymore.
Tom
The exposure is off on these, you have blown channels and are losing detail...
You had a beautiful sky to work with this evening. I too captured the sunset this evening from further west in North Carolina. Ours was fiery but had some breaks in it. I am planning on posting one in the morning.

Agreed....100% about the camera not picking up what I actually saw with my eye's....due to the fast nature of the sunset disappearing very quickly only really had time to just grab the camera and used an auto setting ...so just a grab and snap photo.....but I appreciate your comment's....Tom

Been there, done it. At least you took the shots.
