......just plain irritating.

Is anyone else tired of everything being turned into a racial issue? Especially when they ignore data (or just lie) while doing it?

This oscars issue is a good example......we are hearing of protests, charges of r****m, etc., because no black actors were nominated for awards for the second year in a row.

The proposed solution? Randomly add more black members to the academy (actually not a bad idea in general, by the way. I would add more people in general, as statistically a larger pool will hopefully make for a better, more accurate result).

Ironically, though, those protesting are actually exhibiting their own r****m....the inherent message is that male, white v**ers cannot possibly fathom v****g for people who don't look like them! By definition? A r****t position.

Oh, I almost forgot.......a little data point: over the last 14 years, 21% of best actor winners have been black even though b****s only make up ~ 12.7 of the overall population. I suspect the same results don't hold for non-actor categories, but I could be wrong. Of course, once you add in the foreign participation in the oscars, especially from Spain, the ME, etc., the results might surprise me.

I would have more respect for those calling for protests to explain EXACTLY which nominees this year do NOT merit being nominated, and EXACTLY which un-nominated black actors should take their place. I suspect I already know the answer in Jada's case.

Finally, for ALL groups who feel they aren't represented enough I would suggest that they create their own production companies ........ Create their own businesses, with the need to make money in the long run, become the green-lighters, and make the movies they want and distribute them the way you want. Be a doer and don't rely on others in that case!

Could you imagine w****s complaining that there are too many black players in football, basketball. Why isn't there more black players in Hockey, golf. Maybe because they're better at one sport and don't want to play in another sport. When will it all end?
At a local county golf course we had a manager/pro who was black. Many b****s started to come to the course and started to act like they owned the course and complained about the tee times they had and looked for preferential treatment. That ended pretty quick. I felt sorry for the manager.

That quota should be for pro sports too. And how about the arrestees on "Cops"? Oh, the real prison population? I have no racial or ethnic biases, but there is a reality to life.

Back in the good ole days when Billy Tubbs was basketball coach at Oklahoma he was routinely beating teams by 30 or 40 points & getting hammered for "running up the score"...His response was always "You need to get better".... Same goes for black actors...This was a year when the b****s did not have an exceptional year at the "flicks"....so...like Tubbs said "They need to get better" next year..

True, but pop culture tends to reflect the most current trends and mores, and that is what I'm really referring too.

Have we come to the point where every segment of demographics needs to be represented in all corners of society all of the time, every time?
