GPS, heart rate, accelerometer, tracking, etc., all on a watch. How did I survive so long without one of these? I wonder if it keeps track of keystrokes, too. That's what we really need.
Referring back to your post from 6 Jan on gauges, did you notice that the face of the watch shows an analog representation of workout level?
As for the smarts, a lot of that is already in my iPhone, including the steps tracker. But I don't know how much you can trust the sensors to record really accurate data. I suspect that to get heart rate from the wrist band it has to be fairly snug, but I have always worn a watch a bit loose to avoid sweating under the band. I also flick my wrist just to move the watch around periodically, so that would surely mess up the steps tracking. Given the large variations between how individuals behave, the absolute data are probably not that reliable, but the variations over time for any one person might be more meaningful.
I was seriously considering something like the Apple watch, but I got a new iPad instead. And guess what -- it tells me the time!!! (But it looks really geeky strapped to my wrist.)
