Hi,
I'm looking for a good wide angle lense for a Canon 7D. Any recommendations?
Thanks

Canon 10-22mm, Tamron 10-24mm, Sigma 10-20mm. All offer great performance.

The Canon 1022mm is a fantastic lens - rumored to have L-quality glass but could not have the "L" designation because it is designed for the crop sensor cameras. Many here say that the new 10-18mm is an excellent lens as well, and it is about half the price of the 10-22mm at $300.

I am very impressed with the 10-22 - see:

I have the Canon 10-18mm and am very happy with it, very sharp and has image stabilization. Any of the usual distortions with this type of lens can usually be easily sorted in Lightroom

I can anyone point me to a bad UWA for the Canon APS-C. I own the EFs 10-22 and it is as sharp as a tack. There are so many UWA's around at budget friendly pricing. Good luck in UWA world. It is a bit different.

I bought the 10-18mm for $250, and it has hardly been off my camera since! Great for landscapes, although the width can make it hard to keep roads, cars, etc., from showing at the edges of your images! Seriously, it is hard to imagine a better lens at that price point...

I own the 10-22 EFS, great lens. When I went to try one at Hunt's Camera the sales rep tried talking me into the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8. I thought he was giving me line of BS, so I passed on it, I later discovered what he was telling me true. No matter I've been very happy with the 10-22. I agree it's L quality glass.

Often overlooked is a fabulous wide angle zoom made by Tokina -- the 11-16mm f/2.8.

I use the Tamron 10-24 lens on both my T3i and 7D and have been very satisfied. You get that little extra on the 24 side. You also get a 6 year warranty with the Tamron ...Rich

Again I have the Canon 10-22 which has been the standard of the Industry in Canon crops now budget version 10-18 EFs has many people lathered up. I have not had a chance to shoot with the Sigma 8-16 but would like to.

Don't forget the primes either.

I also shoot a 7D. I have owned a Canon EF-S 10-22mm for several years and absolutely love the lens. It is my mainstay for landscape and building photography. The picture quality is excellent and the lens is fairly fast. Good luck in your search.

I have those recommended lenses--but nearly always reach for my Sigma 8--16--just did a 2000 shot shoot in Florida, about 1800 of which ended up with the Sigma

Another vote for the Canon 10-22mm. The 10-18mm is optically good according to reports, but not the same build quality. It depends what your priorities and usage expectations are.

Also, if you want a fisheye, the Samyang 8mm (Rokinon et al) is worthy of consideration and relatively inexpensive as an additional seriously wide option.
