First image is a single frame of part of the mosaic I am currently doing

Second image is part of the mosaic I have already shot, 30-40 panels so far Would like to have it connect to the horsehead and orion but will prolly have to wait till next year to collect all the subs needed for such a span. original image size is roughly 18g for high resolution this is a much compressed jpg.

Beautiful work Matthew I'm sure the final mosaic will be a real work of art knowing you.

Thanks Craig, it's mostly just something to try out the framing/mosaic wizard in Sequence Generator Pro, at least it started that way. Seems to have morphed into a monster that is occupying all my all-time honestly.

Wow. That is cool. If it keeps growing you're gonna need a bigger disk.

Thanks guys I think I'll post some closeups of some of the interesting stuff I found in the image.

My favorite part is what I believe to be a Herbig–Haro object in the bottom of the image. Here is a closer look

Absolutely stunning! I would like to know how you are capturing these images, and how you are merging them together. The merging process must be critical so that the seams are invisible.

I am using SGPro for acquisition so the frames line up with one of their plugins. And using PI for their plugin the gradient merge mosaic tool. The star alignment routine in PI automatically adapt the frames so the color and tone match. before merging together I separate the color from the luminosity can process both separately since all the detail is held in the luminosity

hope this kind of explains it

Thank you. Are you using the same scope and camera as you have posted with previously and how many subs, exposure time, ISO are doing?

Interested as a learning opportunity. This is beyond good.

Thanks

I did a couple exposures with the RC but mostly with the 70mm refractory with 50% overlap so I could eliminate the aberration from not using a flattener. The bottom left has prolly ten frames with 25 hydrogen alpha and lum exposures equalling 120min with a mono CCD. RBG was exposures equalling 30min with a OSC. The rest of the quarters are limited so far no HA or Lum as of yet.

Absolutely Amazing! And you are pulling in so much detail with that 70mm refractor. And of course the mono CCD.

Dang, awesome!

You might need to crank up the processing power!
