Went out to the local boat launching ramp tonight to see if I could catch any good sunset images. No joy there, so I looked down instead of up. These are images of ice forming due to wave action on a curb on one side of the boat launching ramp. I tried to capture how raw/cold it was (10F with a "zero" windchill). It was interesting to see how the ice built up differently on the windward and leeward sides of the curb. Constructive C&C welcome. (Nikon D5300 w/ 35mm f1.8)
Best in download.
That is sharp looking.
I hope you will post what it looks like at sunrise tomorrow. :)

Really like the detail you were able to capture in the ice

Thank you all for viewing and your comments. And it was almost too cold for me as well. I have a pair of wool mittens that have the cut-out fingers, but they are too bulky to use with a camera when actually taking pictures, so off them came. That gave me about 4-5 minutes before I had to hop back in the car and put them back on to warm up the hands.
These images were taken with the Nikkor 35mm f1.8. The more I use this lens for close-up to medium distances the more I am impressed with the clarity of the image, especially when in the f4 to f11 range.

Bill, thanks for looking. Unfortunately I have to be at work before the sun rises (at least at this time of year), otherwise that might make for an interesting shot. Perhaps this weekend if the weather cooperates.
Really good shots, GWZ, and I love the detail! We have friends who live in Bloomington and she's been telling me how cold it is!

Glad you enjoyed the images. Just a bit of experimentation with the 35mm f1.8. And yes, it did get quite cold over the past few days. Until now it was pretty mild.
