I have never tried to photograph a comet with a EQ mount. I have some images of Lovejoy taken on a fixed mount but that's it.
I will do a little googling on "best practices" for doing so and see "what's up." I doubt it will take much post processing if any at all....but will require us to hone in on our alignment skills.
So, if you are game, post your comet images here and share "your settings" and "post processing" steps if any.
It's raining, and clouds have marred my last three nights. Hopefully Monday will be a clearer day for me, our weather prognosticator says so.
If you have already taken some comet shots, share away.
Are you wanting just this current comet, or just whatever some of us have gotten of previously comets? Here are a couple of earlier shots I've taken. I'm not good at remembering which is which, though...

Great work - super captures. Any and all comet pics that you have please share. If you have some settings that are your "goto" settings or post processing tips....share those too if you will.

I'm not good at writing down my processing either! Most of the shots are with standard camera lenses, maybe some mild telephoto. Comets are pretty large objects, as a rule. As for processing, I live in a pretty light polluted area, so most processing consists mostly of some color balancing and contrast enhancement. The nice thing about digital, is that you can take several images using different settings, and decide and process just the best ones. Also most images consist of no longer than about 1 minute exposures.

Right...
I have no comet shots... :x
I see some great shots here so far. I thought I would add the Comet Lovejoy in B&W. The tail shows better.I used the Nikon D600 at ISO 800, Tamron 150-600mm at 600mm on my Celestron AVX Mount. 30-sec at f/7.1.
Very nice detail. What did you use?
The Pan Star if really great Jim. I've not seen that shot before.

Pan Star was a one chance shot that I left a poker game to get. Best gamble of the night. ;)

Well done! Was that done on an EQ/Alt AZ mount for fixed. What scope/lens did you use?

I discovered earlier this morning I could C/P C/2013 US10 (Catalina) into Stellarium and bring it up.
Since my CCD is so picky about being a narrow FOV, I figure, What the Heck? See if I can get it... :)
If I do, I'll bring it here.

Nikon D600 at ISO 800, Tamron 150-600mm at 600mm on my Celestron AVX German Equatorial Mount. 30-sec at f/7.1.
