A judge in California has decided that this ex-marine can wear a Purple Heart medal even though he didn't earn it. The judge says it's freedom of speech.

It really made me mad when I read this story. What is wrong with people that wear medals they did not earn. And what is wrong with judges that let them get away with it. I spent 20 years in the US Air Force and it's a disgrace the way vets are treated in this country.

I saw this story on MSN from the NY times. I'll try to post the link.

It goes along with todays beliefs that everyone is a winner, first place, in my opinion he is just another thief.

This individual could qualify with the proper marksman squeezing the trigger.

I must admit that I also thought someone should shoot him so that he wouldn't be a liar.

   If I only had a horse. When judges overstep their bounds and disrespect all of veterans who actually earned purple hearts and other medals it hurts the entire judiciary by making people lose belief in them and in the court system. Of course he probably doesn't give a damn what you, I or anybody else thinks. It's all about any sort of expression or protest, no matter how distasteful, seems to be okay with the courts when you say "Freedom of Speech" even though it is not the spoken of written word. Dark money in politics, public displays of art(?) that are offensive, burning the f**g, and all sorts of other crap is protected by the whores who wear the robes.

You can't legislate morality. This guy needs to be publicly dishonored and humiliated and marry Jane Fonda.

At least two of the wakos in Oregon were wearing uniforms and pretending to be former marines when they aren't even veterans.

Hell, classic art from centuries ago is offensive to some.

This has to be a bogus story.

How could someone smart enough to get into the Marines, then turn around and lobby for an undeserved medal with the media watching? 8-)

That's the only thing we can legislate. Every law represents a choice of what we believe good, and what we believe bad. We believe it is bad to go more than 70MPH, so we legislate against it.
Choosing between good and bad is what morality is all about, and it is also how we legislate.
