Looking at purchasing a Sigma 150 to 500 mm lens used and was looking for feed back on other users as far as the quality of this lens I read all kinds of reviews but think the best reviews would be from actual users on this site.

I love mine.
However, I've seen posts on here saying that the Sigma & Tamron 150-600 are slightly better & the new Nikon 200-500(? - I may have this description wrong) is even better.

Sigma 150-500 is old, the 150-600 is brand new and noticeably better.

I'd say they were moderate crops. I wanted to fill the screen with the bird, but I wasn't that far from the bird in either case. I've attached one of the photos uncropped.

I would suggest you look at the Sigma 150-600. I wound up buying the Sport Model.More than pleased for sharpness at 600. Focusing is easy and fast

I have had the 150-500 sigma for over a year and have had good results. It is heavy and I use a tripod when possible. I have made many hand held shots on bright days with good success. I don't think you can beat it for the money. Ask regis. he used one for a long time.

I got this lens last summer, my first long range Telephoto for primarily wildlife captures.... see attached examples of Coopers Hawk shot hand held...Also have shot outdoor sports events with very good results. I shoot with a Canon 70D crop sensor so it's like 240-800mm...I got mine new for $500 which I thought was good value. The new 600mm models may be a bit better but you pay more. Whatever you decide the long range Telephoto lenses are great fun to shoot with.
let us know what you decide and post some of your captures..!! Be sure you have a good Tripod...

Regis has a Tamron not Sigma. I have one and as yet I'm not able to a photo as sharp as Regis.

I may be wrong but the reason I purchased my Sigma was based on the pictures Regis posted on this site of eagles. He replaced his with a different one about the same time I got mine. I am very happy with this lens though I have a lot to learn about photography. bud
