On a warm summers day day families take to the rivers and lakes and hire a rowing boat for an hour or two. This is the River Avon close to where William Shakespeare lived. My country of birth is an incredibly beautiful place so please enjoy the image.

Comment critique but take it from me its quite stunning in places

Billy, that is quite a nice photograph. Great tonality, very nice exposure, and sharp focus throughout.

Speaking strictly to composition, traditionally, it would be proper to have placed the boat towards the left side of the image and have the direction of travel towards the centre of the photo. However, this one works for some reason. There seems to be an adventurous question of where they might be heading. Thus, a bit of mystery.

Speaking with a certain Graham Smith about this shot a few minutes ago. He likes to buck convention at times. We sort of get programmed into thinking their is only one way to frame things. I like to challenge that sometimes and see it it works. This was framed in camera like this.
Thanks for dropping by Bob. Much appreciated.

Nice relaxing image. Concerning the framing, its not about where I'm going so much as to where I have been.

I like the weight of the greens against the river. The V of sky pointing to the boat and the young adventures. I like that the youngest is doing the work. It all seems under control and a wonderful memory for all parties. I like the layers of distance presented. Kind of makes me think of Tom Sawyer and his friends. (though they wouldn't be wearing life vests) I like the deep shadow in the forefront. Just really nice, timeless, classic. On download I see Minnie with her camera.

It should come as no surprise that this is my favorite of your images Billy. It is my kind of scene, perfectly captured and perfectly processed for color and detail. The little boy paddling of course resonates with me as well. You've proved that wonderful landscape images can be taken other times of day than sunrise and sunset, and that the "little people" can move them from pleasant to memorable. Maybe it's an example of English countryside but it is very familiar looking here in Mississippi.

Late to reply Frank and sorry for that. Technically its the best I have done in a while. But have to admit pure luck. Taken with a new camera and lens I had had a week. So still in the days of learning a new combo. Lady luck shone on me for this shot.

Thanks for calling by my man

As it says Dave its just very English and yes very relaxing. The boats drift rather than get rowed.
Appreciate your comments my friend.

As I explained to Frank min it was one week into using a new camera so its the result of a a fair chunk of luck. PP wise it is one jpeg from Raw exposed for the sky and another for the foreground mixed with a layer mask. So a cheat landscape in the eyes of some but perfectly legit in my book. Its a very beautiful river min. A snappers dream.
Glad you like my foray into the world of landscape.

Great shot Billy! The clouds were in the right place at exactly the right time for a beautiful composition. However, the most important question is: how's the fishing?!
