Hi, I have been on the Hog for a couple of years but this is my first post in Street Photography. I was walking down the street at night and looked in the window of a small pool hall. I took the picture within 2 seconds of seeing it as I knew that it would be gone an instant later.

Nikon D7000, 50mm Nikkor, 250 sec,@ f/1.8, ISO 1600.

Reminiscent of the classic "Nighthawks" painting. [Channeling Jackie Gleason] "You shoot a great game of pool, Geegee..."

I really like your composition. Glad you grabbed the shot.

I love this shot because of the subject matter and especially the composition, which is excellent. It is a shame you didn't have time to switch to manual focus. It would have allowed you to make the subjects a little sharper. I'm nit picking a little, but after all, it is a very worthwhile shot. Great job!

Well seen and captured Geegee, my only comment would be to include some of the window surround or building to give the picture more of the sense that it was taken on the street, as per the Nighthawks painting.

I prefer the second one out side the pool hall. Nice shot. #1 doesn't have that spontaneous feeling that I like in Street. Of course, that's a personal preference.

I'm in agreement with Jim, this is the better picture by far.

Thanks guys for your encouragement and advice. I'll try to do better next time now that I know that you really mean "street".

Nice job catching those two pool players taking a shot at the same time. I like the stools leading into the back room as well.

If you look through the door of the pool hall you can see the stools. Some like the street shot better but you can get that scene anytime. I think the spontaneous shot of the two players shooting simultaneously is unique.
