Well min you have some weird and wacky suggestion so how about we just say its a nice image that needs no gimmicks but maybe another look at the BW conversion. Silver Efex with very low ISO dialed in and very soft grain. Eye on the young gal lightened a little

In my opinion this version, other than the original, is the strongest treatment of this piece.

Thanks for giving it a go. Like the tonalities you got, and the detail, except for the model's face which now looks more rugged than I'd like, kind of a girl-lumberjack look. Could easily be mitigated from original though, I'm sure.

I think you are right about the face. The eyes are more visible now but the "lumberjack" look is not the way I want to remember this girl.

Now that I have had time to think about Billy's treatment I realize that a contrast between the rough exterior of the artist and a gentle treatment of the textures of the sitter might have been even better.

Ya know I like my gals rough min. Mrs Billy shaves her chin daily uses a spittoon and has a hairy chest!
I quite liked the look of her face but if not easy to convert another version concentrating on getting the models face as you like it and brushing it through with a layer mask.

It's a classic Billy. No question about it. It's a wonderful treatment.

Me thinks Mrs. Billy is really the boss in that family and when she lays down law it's abided by in all respects. Regardless of Mr. Spads description, I happen to believe that she is a demure and very intelligent sweet gal with a very big heart.
