A short while back my wife was involved in a fund drive where they collected donations in coins. Amongst all the coins collected were coins from all over the world. Since she could only use US coins, you can imagine how thrilled I was to see all those potential photographs.

This is the first in a series of photos I will take of these coins. This image is a focus stack of 11 different images blended in PS CC. Hope you enjoy.

Nicely done and quite the collection! Some serious riches there, don't spend it all in one place, lol. Good work, Dave!

Oh yes, I certainly did enjoy this image, Dave, and so did my husband, who loves collecting foreign coins. Well done stack!

Hey Randy, not sure I could spend it all in one place even if I wanted to! Thanks for the kind comments as usual. I am in the process of cleaning and shining the coins and then will try again with some nice and shiny ones.

Dave, love the stack. Not sure I would clean them. Having the patina shows their usage/history and you never can tell there may be a good one in them. I have many pre ECU and enjoy looking at them. Italy had some of the best!

Thanks for sharing, Greg

Hi Greg, I have cleaned about half of them revealing details that were hidden. I also agree that the patina gives the coins a sense of usage and age so have left some as they were. Besides, it's a lot of work!

Thanks for stopping by and adding your comments. It is always appreciated.

Interesting shot. I agree with most about cleaning them, it may spoil the effect. When I was a kid, they used to talk about cleaning coins in ketchup, as it is not too abrasive. Not sure if that is true or just one of those 'truths' that kids tell - like stepping on the cracks in the sidewalk!
