oldtool2: I don't go very often and the male of the nest takes off when I get there but the female stays (even when they are not sitting on or have eaglets). I try very hard not to interrupt they way of life. She just seems absolutely fearless. She has about a five and half foot wing span and you can see her talons well in the second picture. She is by far the biggest in the area out of the 3 nesting pairs. Maybe she just doesn't view me as a threat.

I'm a newbie on here. Q. for those who've been here awhile: if I ask the photographer if it's OK to share his/her photo with others, and he/she says it is, is there any reason I don't know of not to?

I can only speak for myself but I do it for the pure enjoyment. I don't care if people share my work.

I see no reason, assuming by showing you mean sending it to a friend or relative to look at. Most of us would consider it a compliment to have someone want to show their work to others.

Just be careful. Showing their work is one thing but if the person should publish or print the photo it could be a problem. Even though a photo is shown here the photographer still has the legal rights to it.

There are not many, if any, things that are a threat to eagles. That is with the exception of mankind. We are a threat to everything including ourselves. With all our wisdon we can be one of the stupidest spieces on earth.

Great shots of a hard to photo bird! Keep it up and enjoy!

Michael O' I used a Canon EOS Rebel XS with a 55x250 EFS lens at full zoom. The Eagles live year round in Sand Springs Oklahoma on Wekiwa road in between highway 64 /412 and the the Arkansas River.

Nice work, also in getting fairly close to them. We have some here on the edge of the Mississippi near the Quad Cities, but can't get close to them because of the water. Regards.

hedyd4me, I agree that "...There are not many, if any, things that are a threat to eagles. That is with the exception of mankind. We are a threat to everything including ourselves. With all our wisdon we can be one of the stupidest spieces on earth..."

Mankind is THE threat to wildlife, especially eagles. These are some human threats to eagles: Lead bullets hunters leave in the remains of animals they've shot in the woods that are later eaten by (and then poison) eagles and other scavengers; lead sinkers fisherman use when fishing; wind turbines used to generate electric power; planes at airports; drivers who hit eagles who are on the road.
