These are all very samish but reflect my interest in color and texture. The images are straight off camera and the backgrounds could not be altered. When Theresa has her way with them I show what She achieved of making a Silk Purse out of a Sows Ear! Old English saying.

Gorgeous color and composition. Thank you for sharing them. Would it be accurate to say that you look at the world with love? That's the feeling I got when I viewed these.

BTW, what kind of camera do you use, and what settings were at play in these shots?

Very nice series of shots, all visually interesting. I would go crazy playing with them and cropping for images within images. The portrait was done very well also. Thanks for sharing these Ian. 8-)

Thanks young lady and welcome to the Ugly family. In answer to your questions, My special love is for another Ugly Hedgehog poster, the amazing Tilde531 . We joined the forum about a week apart and on seeing her Avatar fell hopelessly in love. Her love for me followed and we are not only together but also the best of photo lovers.

Used to use a CanonEOS50 with kit lens but was constantly asked what equipment I have . Because my theory is that is the photographers heart, soul and the effort they put into their efforts and not so much the camera, I swopped my Canon for another Canon, a 4 or 5 year old Canon Rebel with a kit lens. The main difference is in the viewing system to me. I do not make large prints so that side of it is unimportant. Theresa was using this camera to great effect, look at some of her magnificent work and now she has my EOS50 you can expect to see some stunning work for her. Thanks again and good luck!!

Thanks, Ian. I love your photos. I will look at Tilde531's. Thanks for letting me know about your cam. At some point I will upgrade to a DSLR from my current p&s - a Canon SX230 HS.

Maybe the love in your relationship with Theresa is what I see in your photos - it looks as if you see with the eyes of love and, through your technical knowledge and mastery, translate what you see into images that are informed by that love. I look forward to looking at more of your work.

When I've had my way with them. eh!??

You mean you're gonna let me play/tweak these masterpieces, Ian!??

*swoon*

I don't think they ALL need tweaking and in fact the ones that DON'T are amazing works of art in their own right. If I ever achieve the caliber of your shots I'll die a happy woman. *smiles* I've been very busy with the thousand or so photos I've taken in the two weeks since leaving Florida!
(Feels like MONTHS honestly...)

I love the really neat colors, too!! That man restored the instruments, even!? WOW!

It would have been great to attend the Festival with you... maybe next time. xoxo

And "GoldenGirl": I love the quote at the end of your messages! (Don't listen to the inflated hype he goes on about me, either. Poor man is biased! *snickers* )

You and many others here have always pounded that notion into my head, ever since coming here. It's not the equipment, as much as it is the person behind the camera... their eye, their passion, their talent etc.

I still say it's 80/20 : 80% person's talent/eye/passion and 20% the camera.

I still use the point and shoot I came here with (Canon Powershot A550) especially for macro work... and in fact, it was a huge surprise to most here that my early work posted was from a P&S.

I was absolutely thrilled with the Rebel you have now and never had a second's worth of desire to replace it with another one BUT: I'm lovin' THIS one, too! I love the built in stabalizer most of all, as every little shake affects the images.

People have commented on the improvement of my photos lately, and despite having access/use of this great piece of equipment... it's what I've LEARNED through experience with you that has really made the difference. And I continue to learn.. and I'm loving every minute of it!

You have been a great friend, a fabulous and humble Mentor and now... my love.
xoxox

I never saw you coming... but I'm SO glad you did.

*End of mush*

*snickers*
