Which one feels more comfortable to use the controls and meets your needs better?

I just got the 7200 and love it! Not much difference between the two that is of any value for taking better pics though.

Check this out to see if the D7200 offers anything over the D7100 that would be of value to you.

Something they don't mention is the buffer in the 7200 is larger allowing a longer burst of shots. This is worthwhile if you shoot much action such as sports. Here is a comparison that you might find worthwhile.

This is strictly a financial question. Look at used and refurb to keep the cost down.

A title like, "D7100 or D7200" would attract more people, and it would work in a Search.

the d7100 will be much cheaper and is a great camera. unless you shoot a lot of action photography and need the larger buffer of the d7200, the d7200 is not significantly greater that the d7100.

Does the D7200 have noticeable better low light high ISO response?

Not entirely true, and I have both.

They are both great cameras. Compare the features and decide if the extra $$$ is worth it to you.

I purchased the D7200 before the D500 was announced, but if I had known the D500 would have been available I would have not purchased the D7200. The D500 is $1K more than the D7200, but from specs well worth the extra money in the DX line. While talk is on the D7200 vs. the D7100 there is more minor incremental upgrades to the D7200 to make it worth owning over the D7100. The autofocus is faster on the D7200 as well as better ISO control and if it is important to you Wi-Fi built in, it also has an extended menu with additional minor control features.

D500 :-) I bought the D7100 a couple years ago and sent it back..... too spoiled with FF and did not like the noise factor. I may have received a lemon because some people really like them!

If everything they say about the D500 is true it will be one amazing camera http://petapixel.com/2016/01/09/i-shot-with-the-nikon-d500-here-are-my-thoughts/ .
