I took this picture with my canon 6D and 300mm f4 L series prime lens. the camera was mounted on my Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod, stabilization turned off. after thousands of pictures with this combination I am convinced that my canon cameras and lenses don't hold a candle, (sharpness) to Nikon products. I can never look at my images full size, they are never sharp. I can't switch horses now, too much money involved. This is why I don't post pictures on this forum. I'll have to live with what I have.

I looked at the download , and I must say they look very good and to me they are sharp.

If you allow me to give a little suggestion, I wonder if you would be more satisfied if you bring out little of the shadows. or a tad of little more light overall.

OR you are suffering of the same syndrome as me. As soon as I see much sharper pictures then mine, is like "damn, I want one" :)

Take a look at Regis' recent eagle photo at http://static.uglyhedgehog.com/upload/2016/1/8/1452272306657-0s2a5361__1_2_16__c5dsr__c100_400_ii__c1.4x_iii.jpg_small.jpg to see what Canon gear can achieve. I would be more than satisfied with that. Not that I want to get into a Canon-Nikon war.

It isn't as sharp as it could be.
Have you calibrated the lens to the camera?

It is not you equipment. If you lower you iso as already suggested and try aperture priority that slows down your shutter some. When you focus try focus on the dark part of bird or feeder and that should make for more contrast. On the left side of the feeder as you look at it is fairly dark not much contrast. I have that same lens with out AF and have no problem. You have several suggestion that you can try. I think most of us are critical of our own work more than others are. As I improve I find that I criticize my own work more than others.

I have not done that yet, I have the calibration template from BH. All my lenses are set to zero calibration on both my 6D and 7D.
