The older Tamron SP 20-40, Sigma 20-40, and the Tokina AT-X Pro 17-35 2.8 are all pretty good lenses $150-300 .......The new Sigma 24-35 f2 would be my pick if I could afford it !
More costly and sharper options I recommend - Irix 15mm, Sigma 20mm or 24mm f1.4 ....
The 10-20 has been getting great reviews for a DX lens but the OP has a full-frame Nikon D800.
Edit: this thread is over two years old!
Bet the OP has already bought something by now.
About a year ago I moved up from the D-7000 DX (cropped frame) series cameras to the D750 Full Frame, but kept several of my favorite DX lenses. Among those I kept was the Nikon AF-S 10-24mm f:3.5-4.5G ED DX (cropped frame) lens. On the DX cameras it was awesome, especially on church and cathedral ceilings and in close spaces. I have also used it on the full frame D750 with equally good results. However, I've searched for a Nikon FX 10-24mm (full frame) version, and it seems there isn't one. It appears the full frame Nikon 16-35mm F:4 or the 18-35 F:3.5-4.5 would be my best choice in replacing the 10-24mm DX lens. But, since I use it infrequently I'm wondering if I should just keep the DX 10-24mm.
I appreciate comments.

Was hoping less than $700.
How about a Nikon 20mm....or 18mm if you want wider. If you're willing to purchase an older used lens you can get it for a very reasonable price. Are you willing to purchase a manual lens? Even better.
eeeeeehhhhh, I got gas and moved up from my D7100 DX to the D750 FF with the 24-120mm F4. Then I got more unsmart and bought the 28-300mm, which I keep on the D750 all the time. It is a great combination for my purpose as a novice; the only problem being that I need a pack horse to haul it around. I use the cowboy type strap, but find myself walking sideways. It's heavy. I have a few of my DX lenses left, one being the Nikon 10-24mm 3.5-4.5G DX which seems to work great on the full frame D750. I have considered other wide angle full frame lenses, but just can't justify the cost. So thinking I will just stick with the 10-24mm DX lens.
Could someone update me on what I am actually seeing with this DX lens, other than 10-24mm, when on the full frame camera?

Had the Nikon 14-24 2.8. Used it so seldom that I traded it for the 28-300 & some money. Now i find I should have at least a decent wide angle lens. Can any one recommend a good fairly inexpensive FX wide angle? Third party OK. (It's for a D800.)
Thanks,
Busch
For landscapes I use the Nikon 16-35 mm f4. Excellent sharpness.

Boredom has set in again.
This thread started in 2016, was renewed in 2018 and languished until just now.
Presumably the OP has figured out what he's going to do by now.
If dreams were easy, why do they have price tags?
While we're on rhetorical questions, what's the purpose of resurrecting a 4-year old thread?

Someone was either searching for threads on WA lenses or just got bored and went past the first page or two searching for something to comment on.

And yet, it lives on and on and on and on. Thank you for support in it's resurrection.
