You are deluding yourself.

Yeah, okay. Your turn of words is amusing. But it appears that either Dave's spell-checker wasn't working or he proofread it too soon before submitting.

Thank you, this is one of my pet peeves too.

I also cringe when I see loose when the person means lose, as in "I always loose my control." Oh well, on to bigger and more important causes such as Canon vs. Nikon. :D

Profanity is a common language practiced within the ranks of the military. It is referred to as Barracks Talk. Without it, the military could not function properly.
I was never in the military, but I like the series of "foo" terms coined by the US military: SNAFU, TARFU, & FUBAR.

My father told me that (Canadian)military officers were not supposed to use profanity.

When it comes to four-letter words, let's not forget "GOLF."
Without profanity, golf would be a colorless misadventure for us duffers. Cussin' is the only relief for the errant hit, which is, of course, the fault of the ball, the club, or the slow foursome ahead of you, never your fault.

Oh Hell--just what is meant by this word Hell.
They say sometimes it's cold as Hell,
Sometimes they say it's hot as Hell.
When it rains they say it's Hell they cry,
And it's Hell when it's dry.

They hate like Hell to see it snow,
It's a Hell of a wind when it starts to blow.
Now how in the world can anyone tell,
What in the Hell they mean by this word Hell.

This mad life is Hell they say,
When he comes in late, there's Hell to pay.
When she starts to yell it's a Hell of a note,
And it's Hell when the kids you have to tote.

It's Hell when the doctor sends you his bills,
For a Hell of a lot of trips and pills.
And when you get this you will know real well,
Just what is meant by this word Hell.

Hell yes, Hell no, and oh Hell too,
The Hell you don't and the Hell you do.
And what Hell of a Hell it is,
The Hell with yours and the Hell with His.

Now where in the Hell and oh Hell where,
And what the Hell do you think I care.
But the Hell of it is it's sure as Hell,
That we don't know what in the Hell is Hell.

What is profanity exactly?

Is not that related to religion as in 'profane'?

Then... If one does not care about religion, is not profanity acceptable?

If you do not want 'profanity' just don't start a &*&*&* thread about (&*(* profanity as you will only attract (*&&^ *&*& answers.

One thing that bothers me is that shit, the f word etc. are banned or bleeped out on TV since they may offend. But saying "Oh my God" is fine even though it offends many of us who do not like the Lord's name taken in vain. Just saying. - Dave

Where did you find this poem?
Do you know anything about the poet?
Presumably, this was not from the great Hoosier poet, because his full name was James Whitcomb Riley
