For one who is just starting out in photography do you mind sharing your camera and settings for this absolutely stunning image? THANKS
Thank you.
The settings for this shot were: ISO 100, f/16, 26mm for 120 seconds.
The base exposure w/o the filter was 1/8 sec., which would make it around 2 min. with a 10 stop filter.
However when using solid ND filters, you have to meter your scene before installing the filter, to figure out what the exposure would be with the filter. Also, do your focusing before installing the filter. As you can see, there is a blue cast that is common with these filters and long exposures. The WB on this shot was 5050K, which is on the cool side. By increasing the WB you can warm it up. I kind of liked the blue cast in this image.
There are numerous videos on you tube demonstrating the use of these filters.
Thanks so much for sharing these settings.....I have a place in mind to try freezing water...if the weather will ever cooperate.....gives me time to digest your information. Your picture is one of the best - in my opinion.
