Somewhat amusing but misses the point. Obama's solution is to punish innocent gun owners. None of the restrictions he tries will have any effect on gun deaths. Criminals don't use legal guns. Mass murders do and none of what he proposes will affect them. BTW the worst school k*****g in the US was with a bomb. Suicides will find another way.

The NRA supports enforcing existing gun laws. About time he gets to doing his actual job. There have been over 15,000 instances of people lying on their background checks: a federal crime. We know who they are and have their addresses. None have been prosecuted.

Most will also support work on the mental health side: the one new thing he has brought up that might do some good.

I'd like to see work on the actual problems and causes vs. political acts to punish the innocent. How about some push button panic alarms for schools that immediately call police with GPS?

The issue isn't 'punishing' anyone, but keeping guns out of the hands of those who can't be trusted with them.

Part of the issue is crime, but there is also spousal abuse and suicide. How about road rage?

The NRA supports existing laws because they don't work.

I'm a gun owner, but there are too many dead people because of guns.

Much of what he does has no effect on criminals, including terrorists. It only makes things more difficult for the law abiding citizens.

Existing laws not working is the point. One reason they do not is that they are not enforced. Hiring more people to enforce them is OK with NRA and me.

As is doing something to help potential suicides. No gun law will affect that: they'll use something else without help. 2/3 of gun deaths are suicides. But saying that is "because of guns" is silly.
