This can be done by shooting shoots in continuous mode. Then using On One's perfect Mask in perfect suite6. In Perfect Mask you can mask in or out the bride or groom on different layers.

I have to say, if you are second photographer and your lead photographer is asking you how to do a shot, I can't say I have much trust in the lead photographer. Sounds a bit like the blind leading the blind here.
Does not seem to be a proper pro wedding photographer at work here, more like a wannabe weekend warrior at work. Hope they are paying you well enough as second photog.

Maybe I'm a bit out dated but, if you are the second and the lead photog asks you to do something that you can't do, you should say so up front, thank him for the offer and walk away. If you ever hope to do weddings in the town this wedding will be in you don't want to screw up the first time out of the gate as you will be remembered.

Shouldn't keep you from trying it though to see if you can do it first.
It has the potential of being a selling piece. I think it's a bit cheezy myself, but if the client wants it you can offer it.
If you have Photoshop, the post processing mechanics are easy. As previously mentioned, getting the bodies to look right can be problematic.
