Hi, just thought I would post this information. I am purchasing a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 and saw that Sigma are currently offering a EF610 Flash with the lens as promotion. I contacted Sigma and asked if lenses bought from Amazon UK were covered on this offer. Sigma advised that "Amazon have been removed from our where to buy listing, as its recently been discovered that Amazon are purchasing Grey Imports, and not purchasing directly from ourselves, Sigma Imaging (UK) Ltd.
Therefore Im afraid to say that purchases from Amazon would not qualify for the Sigma Imaging (UK) Ltd promotional offers"
Worth checking!!

Wow, I just purchased a Sigma 10-20 wide angle through Amazon last week. Just received it and I did get the Sigma US warrenty. I guess I was lucky!!
Hi, It is possible Amazon US only purchase directly from Sigma. Due to inflated prices here in the UK, there is a big grey market from Hong Kong which Amazon have to compete against (DigitalRev/OneStop Digital/Ebay) However this should be made clear when you purchase from what is considered a reputable UK seller.

Depends on who sold the lens. Some stuff on Amazon comes from them, some from other businesses through Amazon. And often the same thing is available from more than one dealer selling through Amazon.

I checked, the lens came direct from Sigma. (Sigma was the seller).

Then his must have been Sigma somewhere other than the UK.
When I search Amazon here in California I get 5 different sellers with that lens. One of them is Sigma USA and four different camera stores or on line sellers. Sigma and two of the others all have the same price. The other two are about $100 US cheaper. I'll bet those are gray market.

For UK readers only: Sigma-UK hasn't understood yet hat the EU is a common market and that the warranty regulations are to be applied EU-wide. If you are buying from the UK, you can go on any amazon site in the EU (.fr, .de, .it etc) or any other EU-based vendor and check for the best price while taking into account a modest increase of shipping costs. But the warranty is EU-wide by regulation. BTW a good price comparator for tech items is

You probably bought from Amazon USA as the OP bought from Amazon UK (from what I gathered).
Hi, yes you are correct. The post was regarding Amazon UK. I have not bought from Amazon.com (USA)
