I've been working hard to get sharper photos. Please critique. Sharpness, exposure, cropping (to much, not enough), how to improve photo.

The solo daisy, and the solo iris are outstanding close-ups.

I would like to have seen a bit more housekeeping on the group photo.

Thank you Nikonian, after looking at the 3rd photo maybe focusing on the bottom flower alone would have made a more interesting shot. White and light colored flowers seem to be difficult for me to shoot, they are hard for me to get sharp they either look blown out or to dark, still trying to find that happy medium.
Thanks for the input.

I think what Nikonian means by "housekeeping" is to get rid of the dead blooms and other distracting things in the photo. I love the purple Iris, but other than a real close-up, I'd rather see a whole flower instead of parts of petals chopped off. They look pretty sharp to me.

Thank you for clearing up the "housekeeping" will do next time. The back ground was really dark when shooting these flowers that they didn't pop out so cropping tight seemed better.
Thank you for the input

Yes, white and light colored flowers are difficult - then again dark colored flowers are also difficult. The light becomes the key factor and that would be natural light and not flash.

As for sharpness - all appear sharp but a problem quickly occurs when shooting with lot's of DOF - namely you start getting things in focus that become distractions.......composition and concentrated seeing will become important tools down the road if you continue to work alot with flowers.

Housekeeping: This is another aspect of paying attention to the overall image - as Nikonian said - pick out a few dead stems and so forth but at the same time one need be careful not to prune so much that what they are left with seems sterile......another edge to explore.

keep exploring

I added a High Pass filter set at 8 and then set it from normal to Overlay and this is a way to really increase the sharpness of a photo. Still beautiful either way.

Another suggestion would be a tripod and fill light to really bring out the flowers.
