More Eagle photos. I'm not sure which is better. Both photos are the same but the first one is with only slight change to exposure. The second is with a little more PP. Please give comments on which everyone prefers. Photo taken with Nikon D7100, Tamron 150-600 at 320 mm, ISO 100, 1/1000, f/7.1. Both photos cropped.

Change in exposure only.

They are both very good Mike, I like #1 because of the bluer skies.

IMHO for what it's worth, I think you went overboard on PP in #2, not a lot but enough. I think the best result would be about half way between them.

Both are very good, but the feather detail in #2 is better.

Keeping in mind that everyone's computers and devices are calibrated a little differently, I think #2 is perfect!

However you end up, the capture is fantastic. Super pose of the grand eagle, and very appealing curves of the small branches in the wider view - another reason I prefer that one :)

I agree with maybe too light in the wings and feathers. If I ever get the handle on using masking, I would be so much happier with my post production work. My biggest hang up is sharpness. If an animals eyes aren't sharp, I usually discard it.

I think the branches make a better composition also.

If the entire bird isn't reasonably sharp, I have a hard time convincing myself to keep the picture ... which should be do-able with an appropriate DoF using an appropriate f-stop

I like #2...I think the blue sky could be amplified in LR or PS alittle if you want the sky alittle bluer like the first one. Just a thought.

I do like #2 for the detail within the bird and the branches. Prefer the blue in #1 much better.
