My wife and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica soon. I checked out previous UHH discussions on Costa Rica but did not see anything about the La Paz Waterfalls, which was suggested by one tour company. Anyone been there and is it worth taking a day to go there? If it was worthwhile, where did you stay?
If you go on any river cruises you will need a long lens to shoot birds and monkeys along the shore. I didn't get to see any waterfalls.
I have been to Costa Rica but did not know of the La Paz Waterfalls. If I did I would have gone.

A trip there was the prize on the episode of Wheel of Fortune I watched last night. Evidently they have a lodge. Looked very nice.

I'll be interested in finding out how your trip went. I was considering a tour of Costa Rika some time back and someone advised me against it, saying to expect long and hot rides on poorly maintained buses over poorly maintained roads. Of course the scenery can still be beautiful despite those criticisms.
We just returned from our second trip to the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, staying at their Peace Lodge. You could spend a full day there, especially if you like to photograph hummingbirds, which you can actually hand-feed. There are also frog and hummingbird gardens, plus birds and mammals. The actual waterfalls weren't worth the long walk ( but then, my wife and I aren't "waterfall people"!). Be sure to be there very early, as the crowds can be thick.

Correction to above: "frog and BUTTERFLY gardens"
I found everything on Google- images looks beautiful;)

Zaydewise, you should go! There are four falls, three of which are accessible by easy walks and the last is accessible by vehicle. More important is the other parts of the La Paz compound. An aviary that's almost the size of a football field, a butterfly pavilion half that size, large orchid collection, monkeys, hummingbirds and more. Wonderful lodge, but expensive. Great experience not to be missed or rushed. Enjoy, J. Goffe
