It is about 3 years old and not used very hard. Prints suddenly started to appear ugly. When doing a nozzle check, group 2 is blank. Regular and "deep" cleaning have failed to fix it.
It has been a joy to own and use. Prints were gorgeous. But, it looks like life is over for this printer.
May it rest in peace.
Now prepare yourself for the responses that will describe how to clean the print head. It may not be dead yet. Good luck.

Thanks. I don't think it is the print head itself. If it were, I think some of the four nozzles would at least be partially working. In other words, when doing the nozzle check, there would be at least some marginal function.
In this case, the nozzle check produces a perfect pattern for group 1 and completely blank area for group 2. My hunch is there is an electronic failure where the four nozzles in group 2 are getting no signal at all.
Have you been using aftermarket ink? That killed my Pro-100

No. I'm one of those that campaign for factory ink regardless of cost. I print photos for personal enjoyment and occasional gifts. It appears to me that Canon and Epson put a lot of work and research into a printer/paper/ink system that works well at making prints competitive in price to printing services. Why try to beat the system unless you have a camera store and are trying to make a due profit?
What is really odd is that it fixed itself! I printed a dozen nozzle checks and did deep cleaning 3 times last night. Buried on the internet there was a forum somewhere with two year old posts saying if you do a couple deep cleans, shut it off and wait 24 hours it might self repair.
After a couple hours this morning of trying to figure out how to get 13x19s for my custom frames from Costco, I tried another nozzle check. The sheet came out perfect.
Electronic gremlins are a fact of life!

It sleeps a lot. I'm not a prolific printer. I was stressed enough that I might have lost a little sleep!
