I'd like some photo op info for Sanibel and Captiva Islands in preparation for a late February trip. I'll appreciate any feed back.
My wife and I were there Feb '15 and took many shots of the birds in the Ding Darling Preserve via a guided open bus tour on Sanibel. You will need reservations in advance for this tour and your rooms. Nice central Florida Gulf Coast area, as you may know.

ding darling of course, as your leaving ding darling, look for parking near the gate, there is a board walk that takes you back into the swamp. I always get great pics back there.
Bailey Tract which is on Tarpon Bay rd , free parking free entrance lots of walking, gators, birds, turtles, and some days nothing at all.
Bowmans beach, head to the water and turn right for say 1/4 mile, you may encounter german tourists. ( dont take the kids) they dont mind getting their pic taken ( most of the time) also lots of empty beach that way lots of drift wood photos . Wave as u go by, I live on the otherside of the trees on the right as you go out beach road...
If your driving out, stop on any of the little islands , you can get great shots of the Light house from across the water and lots of pelicans ( some days)
Find Momma dotts restaurant and stroll around lots of boat pics and seaplane pics there.
get some parrot shots at Jerrys grocery, ( haven't been there in a LONG time so not sure if they are still out front)
Turn right off of causway onto periwinkle, next right turn on to Bailey Rd , go to end its Bailey Park, palm trees, water, birds, etc etc...
Find the library, walk the paths, there is water behind the library with gators, you can shoot them from a bridge ( if I remember right) Library is on Dunlop, off of periwinkle .
Need more LMK
What do you know about a cemetery where I here there are some headstone shots? Perhaps more?
Ding Darling. Great place for Birds. They are closed Friday always. For Marco Island I would suggest Tiger Tail Beach. For For Myers Beach, the Little Estero Lagoon. Was at all 3 places last week.

In Vermont you will find very unique headstones. The most famous one is in Barre VT

Also, if you read Doc Ford Mysteries by Randy Wayne White, there is a bar/seafood restaurant across the street, very near Ding Darling exit, that is supposedly owned by White that features his books and not bad for seafood.

Doc Fords Rum Bar and Grill, corner or Sanibel-Captiva Rd. and Rabbit Road.
If you're over on the east coast, we were just at the Merritt Island WR. Lots of roseate spoonbills, wood storks, a little of everything. Lighting is best there in the morning. Enjoy.

My favorite on east coast, Wakadohatchee Wetlands and Green Cay in Delray Beach. Really great photo ops. If you are on east coast, do not miss these gems.
