This program downloaded to my laptop as an update, complete with an icon for my desktop. Now I can not open any of my photos once I try taking them into PSE. I keep getting an error message saying the information can not be recognized. Has anyone else heard of this program? I also tried to download a craft pattern and got a message saying I must accept to the terms of this program before I can download it.

A .PSE is a Photo Shop Elements file, to my knowledge Adobe Reader DC is strictly for .PDF. To view .PSE you will need Photo Elements or Photo Shop some version. There maybe other generic programs that would open an Elements file but I don't have knowledge of them.

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is the "cloud-related" version of Adobe Reader.
See: https://helpx.adobe.com/reader/faq.html
It's intend is to read .pdf files.
I'm not clear about what you're saying: Have you tried opening jpg or raw or other format images/files in AAR and after that tried opening them in PSE?

As to downloading a craft pattern (I take it this is a .pdf file?) and having to agree to the terms of use first, that's not uncommon. Your saying "the terms of this program" makes me think it is the Adobe Acrobat Reader whose terms of use you have to agree to.

If you hover your cursor over the download link of the craft pattern, you should see the path and file extension somewhere on your desktop. If the extension is .pdf, right-click the link name and select Save link to... or Save target as, or similar.

PS - too late here if you've already installed AAR-DC, but if you still want to download it, make up your mind first whether or not you want McAfee installed on your computer as well. Default is to install it, you have to uncheck the little box to not install....

I use PDF's a lot. It is what people pass around in my industry. DC got uploaded to my laptop as an upgrade. What a piece of C..... I finally got annoyed enough to remove it and put up the standard Adobe Reader. Me be happy now.

Exactly what makes it "a piece of C...."? I am using it and I see no real issues with it. Just interested! :)

If you use the original, this version is not as user friendly as the original. The cut/paste features are almost non existent and it does not play well with third party PDF softwares. I fought with it for a while. I gave up. I Create PDF's, I read them and I do a lot of other things with them. For an advanced user this is not a useful approach.

Portable Document Format(PDF) and Photoshop Elements Document(PSE) are two completely different formats. You cannot open a JPG, or RAW file with a PDF reader unless it is embedded. Are you saying your file association changed? If you are using Windows, R-Click on a JPG and select open with and see if Elements is in the list. Change your association back to what it should be.

As far as downloading a program and being forced to accept a license agreement, I can only say...........DOH!

I, too, do a lot of PDF's. I have the reader open right now and have no problem highlighting text , right clicking, selecting copy, and pasting to another document. Works perfectly. I just have not seen anything that I did with the old version that I cannot do with this version. I do find the Export PDF pane that opens by default a bit annoying but a simple click of the little arrow fixes that. I am not sure if I can set it that way by default.

I am very happy for you. I dumped it.
