Holding the mundane in high regard is one of my quirks. Recently, thanks to Dave G., began experimenting with haiku - the 5-7-5 style. (Not Dave's favorite haiku form but he is very tolerant.)

Love the photo, Jim! The haiku is good but I feel the artist is trying to force me to regard the photo as an expression of his/her philosophical bent which, in this case, doesn't jibe with mine, so it poses an interesting question: must I see the image as the artist wants me to see it or may I see the image as I wish...and my rebellious nature leans toward the latter.

Thanks Frank. Unusual for me as I'm usually the last one in line at the checkout counter.

Exactly! This is the very problem with directive and suggestive titles. I think I prefer Graham Smith's curt titles. What I really prefer is "Untitled" followed by either an Arabic/European numeral or a Roman numeral.

I do feel a symbiotic relationship within this kind of presentation. Might there be times that this would be acceptable in your philosophy, or are you rigid in your belief?
Could you not suspend your adherence for certain exceptions in the name of artistic license?

I would like to know the feelings of the membership in regard to this problem. Such as when to title and when to untitle - if ever.

Thanks Nan,

A street in old Omaha with lots of dives. There's usually lots of feet in this section. I was lucky to catch only one pair.

No title when you want their thoughts with no influence of your own. Title when you want to give them a hint of your desire.

Now this is strange! Billy loathes the mundane leaves it to others and makes damn sure they never get an invite to Billyspad.
So will someone tell me me why I find this image compelling? Make that my Xmas gift.
Does this mean there is a change afoot? Will it mean I no longer want to see Trump in the White House will invest in beige boxer shorts and be drawn to wearing those silly foot sock things with trainers?
Will I seriously look forward to driving a Toyota Corolla and find Billy Joel's music tolerable?
Am I destined to look for forms functions leading lines and dead space or whatever it is called when I take a snap?
Is it my future to ask here in the general Forum for advice when I need to buy a new camera strap or give my buddy's thumbs and shout "great shot" on dodgy snaps posted in the Gallery.
In my mid 60's is this where it will end?

Compelling is the only word that comes to mind just tell me why please?
