Absolutely stunning shot, good to see you here. I have a feeling we will be experiencing some wonderful work. For me removal of the white spot above the head for sure, and maybe the brown left of face would improve an already great shot.
Your respect for wildlife is evident in this one also. Magical is the perfect word.

Lovely soulful portrait, and you're right, the eyes have it! I am glad we have another wildlife person on board.
I agree with Frank about the distracting white spot. Also, if you lower the saturation and luminance of the reds, it will give you some extra separation between the subject and background, if you should want that.

Thank you for the constructive criticism. In all honesty, I never saw the HUGE white dot above his head. Once that was brought to my attention, that was ALL I saw. Then the "scar" on his left cheek became an eye-sore.
I chose to leave the saturation as is, because I wanted him to be a part of the surroundings.
You have offered the most constructive suggestions I have ever received on any web site.
