I am looking to buy a camera mainly to take pics of my wife for some photo contest. I have been using my Samsung Note 4 smartphone. It seems to take great pics everyone says when they see them. But I need to stay under 3-4 mp for upload purpuses. I have a opportunity to buy a Canon Rebel XTI dlsr with a ef-s 18-55mm lens. It has all the cords, charger, paperwork battery, case and 2 SD cards. Is this a good camera for 175.00 I am sure it is but will it suit my needs. I have heard canon is good for low lighting as well. Also do it do video
What you cannot afford and regret later on.
@ rongnongno what does your comment mean seems like u left some info out or I am slow
It sounds like a good deal to me. As you learn it does get more expensive. :D

It means you want to purchase something for a single purpose.
You are better off renting.
I also like to do video I had a sony handycam that recently went out on me. I am looking to replace is there a all in one that would work well for both. I was able to do video and shoot photos at the came time but in low lighting it wasn't very good
I am not looking to it to be a one time use I love taking pics and video of her these are mainly boudoir & erotic so it is Gen low light. I don't want to rent I am looking to buy
Cameras are limited in time and format when it comes to video. This is due to some tax requirement (obscure non-sense stuff) but it prevents cameras to film more then 10~20 minutes at a time? (not sure here)
If you do short clip and have the tool this may work.
Still, since you seem to be sort of short in cash flow be careful.
Hadn't really set a price I just happened upon the Canon for 175.00
I figure if I buy another camCorder a will spend around 300.00 and it be a Canon since I hear they work best in low light so I am looking around 500-600 I already have a tripod.
I also just loaded windows 10 on my laptop I am sure that matters some

Look onto the used market as you already do and when you have a specific model in mind within your price range ask a pointed question on the model (using a descriptive title)

Nope but a free video editor from MS might help.
Looking for the URL.
MS Video encoder
Pointed question what type of camera would work best for my use
Point and shoot or evil or dslr or csc I would love a csc but I am sure more than I want to spend I realize you say I need a price point you know what I am looking to do I don't want to spend more than is necessary but I don't want to go dirt cheap I am trying to stay within a $300 range for camera alone this can be used I'm just trying to figure out what is the best type of camera to buy for what my purposes are again I am completely ignorant when it comes to cameras at least I will admit that

The time limit is 29 minutes 59 seconds, because 30 minutes is the threshold for EU import duty on video recorders (5-12%). At one time, cameras were limited to 12 minutes due to the 4GB file size limit on FAT32 formatted devices. Cameras with processors that are not optimized for video have limits imposed to avoid processor overheating.
As far as I know, the limit now applies only to cameras that will be imported into the EU, and thus are PAL format (versus NTSC format). Might still be a limit. But my Panasonic GH3 has unlimited recording time in NTSC format.
It may be a question of camera model as well as video format. But at this time, some digital cameras do not have limitations.
Even if you have knowledge....., a Canon....., what else!!!! ;-)
